Plan B

Ten days from today, on Halloween, my friend Diane and I were to depart for our week long trip to Costa Rica. The plan had first been hatched back in August; that's when we started researching destinations. Greece, Argentina, France, Italy, England, Mexico, Costa Rica and even Napa Valley were researched, considered and discussed. Finally the choice was made to go to Costa Rica. We had reports that it's rainy season this time of year, but our research showed that it would be the end of the rainy season and, besides, the airfare was too good of a deal to pass up. We began to read guidebooks, to plan itineraries, to make hotel reservations.

Who knew that this would be the rainest rainy season in 30 years? That Costa Rica would suffer massive floods and landslides? That people returning from trips were delayed when the two lane road went down to one lane because the other had slid off the cliff? (see more at http://www.ticotimes.net/daily.htm)

So, plans changed. Today. We now have ten days to plan the new trip. And you know what? I'm not worried in the least. We are going to go and have a wonderful time. I just wonder how much Italian I can learn in 10 days.
