Humility is...

...sitting at home late on a Thursday night after the staff Christmas party, comfortable in your flannel PJs, enjoying a glass of wine and ruminating about the state of your own life, only to be called to get dressed and go to a hospital room where a family is gathered around their loved one who has just died and reading to them, "I am the resurrection and the life," and anointing the beloved's head with oil and watching as one by one the family does the same and then all praying "thy kingdom come, thy will be done" and asking for God's strength and peace and for nothing less than the resurrection of the dead to eternal life.
