Since I started this blog around the same time I started running, I've thought of a few running related posts; but they never made it on here. Perhaps that is about to change. My two younger sisters (in this context I feel compelled to point out that they are MUCH younger) and I are registered to run the Chicago 1/2 Marathon on September 12. You can read the story of how a photo and some sibling smack talk got us all three tangled up in this training process at Katie's blog. She will be blogging the running experience as a way to stay on track (ha ha, excuse the unintentional pun). I think I'll add some running related posts in between the inevitable reflections on weeding. The variety will do all of us some good, I'm sure.
A journey of 1,000 miles (or 13.1 or the 200+ we'll run in training) begins with a single step. I had my first "official" training run on Saturday and it was as much a walk as a run. I went out again today and started way too fast; I was destroyed by the end of just 3 miles. But there is great hope here. I truly believe that as we follow our training plan we will get stronger, the runs will get better, and we will all three get to both the start and the finish lines in September. At a time in my life when it feels like I have no idea how to get toward the things I most want and need, it's nice to have a chart on my fridge that tells me exactly how to get where I want to go. Bring out the star stickers; I've already taken the first steps.

If I had been drinking my coffee while reading your post, I would have lost it at the last sentence. Heather wants life to hand out star stickers, too, and so do I! We have never met (you and I) but some day I hope to. And I will bring star stickers for all of us!!
Yes, she and I have that in common. :) I would look forward to meeting you -- and sharing our star charts!
